Sky Documentaries
Overview
Sky Documentaries is home to premium, narrative driven, limited series and cinematic feature documentaries, made by award-winning filmmakers as well as emerging talent. We cover a broad range of subjects from compelling sporting stories to definitive biographies of cultural icons, stranger than fiction crime-capers to captivating contemporary history, and much more.
What we are looking for
We are commissioning feature documentaries and multi-episode (2-6 part) limited series, driven by strong narrative storytelling and a confident and creative directorial vision. What we are not looking for
We’re not seeking formats or constructed documentaries, current affairs, presenter-led projects or series with stand-alone episodes. We don’t tend to do history pre the 1970’s and are currently favouring much more recent stories.
Sky Nature
Overview
Sky Nature is the place to get closer to nature than ever before. Whilst the channel is predominantly home to eye-opening, vibrant acquisitions, we will commission around 2-4 blue chip original series a year.
What we are looking for
Landmark natural history – ideas which feel bold and original, entertaining, immersive and eye-opening, with innovative storytelling and revelatory content. What we are not looking for
We are not looking for precinct or sanctuary based natural history, or anything which is driven too much by human characters – we are focussed very much in the animal kingdom. We are looking for only limited number of presenter-led natural history shows.

Sky Crime Overview
Sky Crime is the place to find nail-biting true crime. The channel is home to both premium, true crime box sets and returnable, closed-ended episodic series. Sky Crime focusses largely on cases where ordinary people find themselves victim of a violent crime (other types of crime – drugs, gangs, white collar etc – would likely land on Sky Documentaries).
What we are looking for
True crime box sets (2 - 4 parts) – either definitive explorations of Britain’s most well-known cases, where there is something new to bring to the table, or else gripping, untold stranger-than-fiction cases. What we are not looking for
We are not looking for precinct driven ‘blue-flashing light’ observational series or anything formatted. Generally not after talent-led ideas, unless the talent is genuinely a part of the story/investigation.

Entertainment
Overview
The entertainment genre feeds into Sky Max and our job is to bring the laughter with shows like A League of their Own, League Roadtrip, Rob and Rom Versus, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and a whole raft of shows coming down the line.
We love a buddy show – the very best of what we do creates a cast of friends who are warm and inclusive and very, very funny – you’d love to go on a night out with them and they would be the funniest folks in the room.
What we are looking for
Funny talent led vehicles that are authentic to their skills and interests. We like a buddy movie; we are in the market for funny factual entertainment. We operate post watershed and your idea should feel like something you could watch on demand a year or two from now.
What we are not looking for
Game shows; Features; Reality; we’re probably ok for panel shows now so try and think about another wrapping.

Arts
Overview
Sky Arts is the UK’s only dedicated Arts Channel and we pretty much cover all the arts genres – music, the visual arts, dance, theatre all via biography, documentary and performance pieces. We work with a broad range of artists and arts organisations to bring our audience the very best of the arts past and present. We also look to make truly innovative and ground-breaking programming whether that’s 12 hours of one single shot live on a drama or an artist taking over the channel to use TV as their canvas for a whole day.
What we are looking for
You should have a great artist talent or an institution attached to your idea; or a unique story or an idea for a season of programmes. We’ll often co-produce singles or series so have a think about other financing partners along the way. We are a niche channel that punches well above its weight so if you’re idea is totally arts and will grab lots of positive attention, then we’re all ears.
What we are not looking for
We’re not presently in the market for formatted competition ideas. We don’t do panel shows or comedy as such. Apart from that, the world of arts is a huge landscape to play in!

KidsSky Kids offers the very best in entertainment for children from pre-school age up to 12 years old.We have a huge library of on demand content alongside 9 premium pay channels including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Cartoon Network and our own ad-free Sky Kids channel.With big brand shows like Peppa Pig, Scooby Doo and Pokémon available to watch, Sky Kids commissions original content with a strong British feel that complements rather than competes with what our partner channels offer. When we commission, we look for shows that kids will love, parents can trust and are strong enough to really make an impact.What we are looking forWe mostly look for formats based on well-known IP or that feature people or characters that children may recognise. Sky Cinema 
Overview
Sky Cinema co-produces around 12 scripted feature films per year. We can come on board a project at any stage, so are looking to develop, acquire or equity finance depending on the project. We look for high concept ideas which are highly marketable and appeal to a broad audience.
What we are looking for
Our preferred genres are action, thriller, sci-fi, comedy and family but we are also looking for a small number of authored prestige films from established film makers. Our films need to have scale and stand out from the crowd. What we are not looking for
We are not looking for horror, period drama or small-scale, niche drama.

Ali Screenwriting Fellowship, run in partnership with Netflix, and Sky Table Reads; our monthly industry showcase of rehearsed readings from writers of underrepresented backgrounds.What we are looking forThe Sky Studios Drama team look for 10-12 Sky Original premium dramas per year across Sky Atlantic and Sky Max. Sky Original Drama must have ambition in storytelling and execution, becoming our customers favourite shows and have immediate relevance in the cultural zeitgeist.Though we commission a range of Sky Original Dramas and are always open to new ideas, all our Sky Original dramas must be premium content, worth paying for and worth talking about. The stories we are looking for must connect to our customers on a personal level and resonate with them through the characters and universal themes each series explores. They tend to be distinctive, entertaining, original ideas with a clear identity (such as Gangs of London or Save Me) or based on existing IP or real-life events (such as The Tattooist of Auschwitz or Chernobyl). We are open to all genres, from prestige to thriller to fantasy and everything in between, or bold hybrid ideas which re-define and upend audience expectations, provided there is a clear, character driven concept.We commission limited series and returning franchises, and always aim to attach world-class talent both in-front and behind the camera which further drives international appeal for our series.Given Sky Studios commissions from indies as well as producing content in-house, we are able to partner small indies with our in-house production team if needed, to provide the scale, resources and expertise needed to deliver world-class Sky Originals. Through the wider teams at Sky Studios, we are also able to fully-fund projects for international distribution, meaning we can move more quickly than most and deliver shows with global reach.What we are not looking forAs a pay-TV proposition, Sky Originals must be elevated, premium stories which can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best series on the planet.
