It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we’re saying thank you

Friday 16 December 2016

Christmas is a time for giving and also a time to say thanks. That's why we’re treating our Sky TV customers to an early Christmas gift - a little something from Sky. It’s a small token of our appreciation for the last 12 months and now we’re looking forward to a brilliant 2017.

For those without Sky Box Sets, it’s as easy as pressing play to unlock our huge selection of box sets for three months, free. From Christmas Eve customers will find that brilliant shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, Fortitude and many more have appeared as if by magic on their Sky Q or Sky+ HD box, just in time for Christmas.

And those already enjoying Sky Box Sets will receive a Sky Store Buy & Keep voucher down the chimney (well, by email or post over the next few days), giving them their choice of movie to own as a digital download and on DVD.
This gift is just the beginning, as next year we will reveal more exciting plans for our Sky customers. We hope they’ve enjoyed a standout year of television and are beginning to get excited for everything that’s coming in 2017.

We saw people’s fantasies played out in HBO’s Westworld while Bobby Axelrod showed everyone how wealth and corruption can collide in Billions. And of course there was that dramatic season opener to The Walking Dead – let's say no more. Meanwhile, in movies, Bond took on more baddies in the breath-taking Spectre and we were left wondering what will happen to Captain America next as he hit our screens in another outstanding instalment.

There’s more to look forward to in 2017 too, with a new big-screen drama released every month from some of the best storytellers in the world. We’re the only place to watch new seasons of award-winning shows such as Game of Thrones, The Affair, Twin Peaks and the final season of Girls. We’ll also be unleashing an exciting line-up of new dramas, headlined by the likes of Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies), Idris Elba and Freida Pinto (Guerrilla), David Morrissey and Kelly Reilly (Britannia) and Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks (Tin Star).

It has also been a year to remember in sport, as the England rugby team secured four wins from four in the Autumn Internationals, Leicester City pulled off one of the greatest shocks in English football history and a heroic Andy Murray climbed to the top of the tennis world, ending the year ranked number one. In the New Year, we’re looking forward to another fiercely contested F1® championship, all four golf majors, including The Masters and The Open, and the whole of the British and Irish Lions Tour exclusively live.

So, we really hope that people enjoy their gifts, and spend the holidays catching up on just some of the great TV available on Sky as well as looking forward to all that 2017 has to offer.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year from everyone at Sky.
