Bringing TV legend Morph and brand new app updates to Sky Kids just in time for half term

Monday 24 October 2016

At Sky, we are committed to providing the best entertainment for the whole family. That’s why we’re continuing to invest in what we offer the youngest members of the household. And today, we’re really excited to bring some great new features to the Sky Kids app and announce family favourite Morph, will be back on screens with brand new and exclusive episodes and a fantastic series of movie-making tutorials this October half term.

Sky is home to some of the most-watched kids’ shows in the UK and Ireland. We offer kids’ favourites on demand via the dedicated Sky Kids app and kids sections on Sky Q, Sky+, Sky Go, and on NOW TV with a NOW TV Kids Pass. We know kids and families want the flexibility to watch their favourite shows wherever and whenever they want, so it’s not surprising that we’ve seen a record number of kids’ shows watched during the summer - over 119 million on demand views across all our platforms. From eOne’s Peppa Pig to Nick Jr.’s Paw Patrol, that’s an increase of 80% views across the year!

And the Sky Kids app has gone from strength to strength since it launched in March. New features have been popular with parents and kids alike, with Sleep Mode providing peace of mind around time spent watching TV on devices, and downloads making long car journeys with a young family slightly more bearable. But we’re not stopping there, as you’ll see more brand new and exclusive shows and enhancements to the app, including Profile Sleep Mode, further personalisation of Buddy World profiles and even more in the future.

So what are the three things you need to know about kids TV on Sky?

1.Sky is home to all your kids’ favourite characters all in one place:

Over 4,500 episodes of kids’ shows including Nick Jr.’s Paw Patrol, Boomerang’s Scooby Doo, CBeebies’ Octonauts and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time. And we’re launching a new channel Nicktoons! coming soon.

New on Sky: brand new Morph episodes and movie-making tutorials, and a new kids version of Sky 1’s popular science panel show Duck Quacks Don’t Echo: Kids are available from next week. Plus the multi-award winning animated versions of kids’ classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child are coming soon.

Kids Vids: a collection of popular short web videos from nursery rhymes and songs for 2–6 year olds. Kids can sing along with the UK’s top YouTube channel and kids’ favourite Little Baby Bum, animated pop penguins Badanamu and simple folk songs from Caspar Babypants.

Sky Sports Kids: something to keep your kids entertained during half term, with exclusive shows to encourage participation in sport, from Game Changers to bite-sized Super Skills and Masterclasses, and new series, Let's Try.

2.There are new features available now in the Sky Kids app:

Buddy World Profiles: parents can already make profiles with shows tailored to children’s ages and then let them personalise it with one of the playful Sky Buddy avatars. And now they can dress their buddy up or give them fun new hairstyles!

Up Next: if the next episode’s available in a series it will prompt viewers to watch it after the previous episode – simply press play to begin.

Just Watched: kids can now continue watching and pick up where they last left off, or see what they’ve recently been watching in the home screen of the app.

3.If your kids love the Sky Buddies, you’ll love our first ever sticker packs for iOS: if you share iPhones or iPads with your children they can download a sticker pack for use in iMessage bringing their Sky Buddies to life, available in the App store today.

We’re really excited about bringing Morph back to screens this half term and everything to come for the Sky Kids app and kids shows on Sky – and we hope our customers are too!
