Introducing a new addition to the Sky One menu! Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon confirmed to serve up ‘The Trip To Greece’ early next year

The Trip is returning to Sky One in early 2020 with a fourth instalment of the multi-award winning and much-loved comedy series, starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. 

The Sky original series, from Revolution Films and directed by Michael Winterbottom, will see Steve and Rob’s fictionalised characters embark on a road trip around Greece for a fresh helping of gastronomic adventures.

Succulently seasoned with laughter, impressions and scintillating conversation, The Trip to Greece is sure to satisfy viewers’ palettes as the duo lock horns over tragedy, comedy, myth and history. All while dining on cuisine traditional to beautiful Greek hot spots including; Assos, Kavala, Stagira, Athens, Epidaurus, Hydra and Plyos among many many others.

Sky’s Head of Comedy, Jon Mountague says: “What a joy to go island hopping with the incomparable Steve and Rob. Greece is the birthplace of democracy but more importantly the birthplace of Michael Winterbottom’s latest vision, which we can’t wait to share with our customers. Yamas!”

The 6x30 series begins shooting this month and will be ready to be served to viewers on Sky One and streaming service NOW TV in 2020.

It follows on from Sky’s The Trip to Spain, which saw the duo venture from Getaria to Malaga in 2017, securing Rob Brydon a BAFTA nomination for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme.

The Trip to Greece sits among a raft of Sky original comedies that feature the best talent in the industry, such as Breeders (Martin Freeman), Intelligence (David Schwimmer) Sick Of It (Karl Pilkington), The Reluctant Landlord (Romesh Ranganathan, Sian Gibson), In the Long Run (Idris Elba, Bill Bailey), and Hitmen (Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc). And follows a record 16 BAFTA nominations for Sky programming this year, including Sky original Sally4Ever, which won best Scripted Comedy.

The series will be directed by Michael Winterbottom, produced by Melissa Parmenter and Josh Haynes for Revolution Films, Baby Cow and Small Man productions with international sales handled by Tristan Whalley at Goalpost. It was commissioned by Jon Mountague and Zai Bennett for Sky One, with Josh Cole as Commissioning Editor.
