Commissioning

Commissioning

We commission Sky Originals across every major genre - bringing our customers the best in drama, comedy, documentaries, arts, entertainment, kids and film.

Entertainment

Entertainment on Sky is where the fun lives. From the BAFTA-winning Rob and Rom Versus toThe Dyer’s Caravan Park to Saturday Night Live: UK, we bring the laughs. We are always on the lookout for scaleable formats and talent-led series that really draw people in. Does it make you want to hit play on the next episode straight away? What would the marketing look like? We're not after panel or quiz shows; we want ideas with a strong hook and clear appeal that can get people talking.

Arts

Sky Arts is the UK’s only dedicated arts channel. From music and visual art to dance, theatre and more, we shine a light on the very best of the arts, past and present. Our shows span biography, documentary and live performance, and we’re known for pushing boundaries—whether it’s a 12-hour single-shot drama or handing over the channel to artist Marina Abramovic for the day. We’re looking for standout talent, partnerships with brilliant institutions, unique stories and bold ideas for themed seasons or series. We’re not looking for formatted competitions, panel shows or comedy. Otherwise, the canvas is yours to draw on.

Drama

Within Drama, we commission in three areas: tentpole original series that have a UK entry point and global resonance such as The Day of the Jackal; UK contemporary series, built to return such as Prisoner or War; and limited event series that are often creator or talent-driven like The Death of Bunny MunroAmadeus and Under Salt Marsh. We are currently seeking more UK contemporary series that radiate fun and joy, whilst remaining character-led with high emotional stakes.

Comedy

Original Comedy at Sky has captivated our audiences with standout successes like the BAFTA-winning Mr. Bigstuff and the enduring charm of Brassic, now in its seventh series. We believe in giving UK comedy talent an expansive creative playground to bring their ideas to life. We’re on the lookout for new UK contemporary series, designed to return, with a 45-minute run time. We aren’t seeking half-hour formats or sketch shows at the moment.

Documentaries

Sky Documentaries is home to bold, narrative-driven feature documentaries and limited series. We’re looking for gripping stories with scale – the kind you could turn into a scripted series or film. Creative swagger, unrivalled access to memorable characters, and layers and themes that resonate in the UK are must-haves. We have three areas of focus: personalities with UK fame and global recognition like Boyzone: No Matter What or people with astonishing life experiences such as David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived; true crime that takes you on a journey to the truth like The Body Next DoorThe Girl Who Caught a Killer or Tell Them You Love Me and; investigative thrillers that retell world-changing events with a fresh perspective and cinematic scale, like BAFTA-Winning Lockerbie7/7: Homegrown Terror or Flight 149: Hostage of War. We’re not looking for formatted or constructed docs, current affairs, presenter-led projects, specialist factual or anthology series.

Film

In recent years, we’ve made significant strides with Sky Cinema Originals, bringing exclusive films to our Sky Cinema subscribers. Recent projects include the BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominated LEE, as well as Michael Mann’s Ferrari and the hit film The Beekeeper. We aim to join projects at the acquisition stage for UK rights, with a keen interest in action-packed thrillers and a select few prestigious titles with theatrical potential.
