Sky receives nine nominations at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards 2023

This morning Sky received nine nominations at the 2023 Royal Television Society Programme awards, with shows recognised across arts, comedy, drama, factual and children’s programming.

The nominations are:

Arts: The Ghost of Richard Harris. A feature-length Sky Original documentary providing a candid and revealing insight into the private life and public career of legendary actor Richard Harris.

Children’s Programme: COP27: Six Ways to Save Our Planet. Six children from six continents set out to explore and demonstrate solutions to the huge problems facing our planet.

Comedy Drama: BrassicSky’s BAFTA® nominated original scripted comedy starring Michelle Keegan, Joe Gilgun, and Damien Molony is recognised in this new category. The Brassic crew will return for an eagerly anticipated fifth series later this year, hatching eccentric plans aplenty.

Comedy Performance – Male: Samson Kayo for Bloods. BAFTA® nominee Samson Kayo stars as Maleek, a tough-acting loner who’s paired with over-friendly divorcee Wendy as they venture through the life-saving world of a south London emergency service.

History: Italia 90: Four Weeks that Changed the World. A three-part original documentary that follows the 1990 world cup, exploring the drama on the pitch as well as the momentous historical shifts happening beyond it.

Leading Actor - Female: Billie Piper for I Hate Suzie Too. BAFTA® nominee Billie Piper, who co-created this BAFTA® nominated Sky Original series, stars as child star turned actress Suzie Pickles, fighting to regain the love of the British public whilst her personal life spirals out of control.

Science and the Natural World: My Garden of a Thousand Bees. Taking refuge from the pandemic, wildlife filmmaker Martin Dohrn sets out to film over 60 species of bee in his small garden.

Single Documentary: Dying to Divorce. Filmed over five years, Dying to Divorce follows lawyer Ipek Bozkurt, and a group of activists as they fight back against Turkey's gender-based violence crisis and the political events that have eroded democratic freedoms.

Writer - Drama: Lucy Prebble for I Hate Suzie Too. Emmy® winner Lucy Prebble (Succession, Enron) wrote and co-created the BAFTA® nominated Sky Original series about the moment in life when the mask slips, asking if any of us can survive being well and truly ‘known’.

The winners of each category will be announced at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards 2023 ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday 28th March 2023 at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
