Adam Buxton’s BUG to air on Sky Atlantic HD from Monday 9 July at 9.30pm

Wednesday 13 June 2012

Building on the huge success of five years of live shows at London's BFI Southbank, Sky Atlantic HD will bring the cult hit BUG to TV screens with a brand new eight part series this July. Presented by comedian, writer, director and music video fanatic Adam Buxton (The Adam and Joe Show), BUG is a celebration of the most brilliant, thought-provoking and weird music videos to be found online.

The series will provide a platform for some of the best work in music videos today, from well-known masters of the medium to young newcomers working on zero budgets.

Each episode will include an original music video starring Adam, and directed by some of the best directors working in the business, including David Wilson, Dougal Wilson, & Garth Jennings.

As well as featuring the latest video gems from innovative and groundbreaking directors, Buxton examines the various comments they provoke among the opinionated and eccentric members of the online community, delivering the absurd and off-the-wall responses in his own inimitable .

Describing BUG, Buxton says: "I tell people it's like going round to a friend's house and having them open their laptop and show you interesting and amusing things they've found or made, except not as tedious and shit as that sounds."

Fun, cheeky and even a little bit educational, Adam Buxton’s Bug introduces a wealth of extraordinary music videos, while changing the way you view online forums forever.

Adam Buxton’s Bug will form part of Sky Atlantic HD’s recently announced comedy Mondays, which launches on 25 June with the premieres of ALAN PARTRIDGE: WELCOME TO THE PLACES OF MY LIFE, HBO series VEEP and Kathy Burke’s WALKING AND TALKING.  As part of Sky’s commitment to increase its investment in original British content by 50% over the next three years, the channel will continue to invest in and showcase bold, smart and grown up comedy, ensuring that the greatest comedy talent are given the creative freedom to make truly original, distinctive shows.

ADAM BUXTON’S BUG premieres as part of Sky Atlantic HD’s comedy Mondays from July 9 at 9.30pm. Following the addition of Sky Atlantic HD to Sky Go, customers will also be able to watch ADAM BUXTON’S BUG on the move on iPad, selected smartphones and laptops at no extra cost.

About BUG Music Videos

BUG was created by David Knight, Louise Stevens, Phil Tidy and Chris Blakeston in late 2006 in collaboration with BFI Southbank's head of events, Stuart Brown, who was looking for a new, regular music video event for the BFI programme to build upon the success of their previous music video strand, Antenna. BUG was initially designed to be a series of bi-monthly shows showcasing the most creative, daring and innovative music videos from around the world on the big screen, and the team invited Adam Buxton, British comedian, broadcaster, music video director and general music video enthusiast, to host the series. The first show took place at BFI Southbank on 26 April 2007, and immediately attracted an enthusiastic audience. As the show has developed, Adam and the team have honed a format which includes some of the best music videos in the world, peppered with Adam's pick of the most hilarious and downright bizarre comments from the online community, some incredible online finds, Adam's own videos and interviews with greats of the music video world. Guests have included video directors such as Kevin Godley, Tim Pope, Chris Milk, and Dougal Wilson, and artists including the Greenwood brothers from Radiohead, Moby, Royksopp, UNKLE's James Lavelle, and Coldcut's Matt Black. Since its inception, BUG has played to more than 25,000 audience members at BFI Southbank alone, which remains its spiritual home, and has sold out cinemas, theatres and festivals around the UK and abroad.
