European Supply Chain Excellence Awards

Thursday 8 November 2012

Sky in partnership with UTL have won the Contribution to Environmental Improvement: Recycling award at the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards, beating other nominees Unilever, IMB, Marstons and Petder with Osman Lojistiks. This award was in recognition of our work to build and manage the processes that deal with Sky product returns. Preventing those returns from ending up in landfill and proactively delivering recycling and re-use solutions for all of the materials generated meaning we have achieved zero waste to landfill.

The entry into the award was not only aimed at gaining Europe wide recognition of the great things that can be achieved at Sky by working with our suppliers, but also to raise an awareness that Sky is taking a leadership role in tackling challenges that many businesses face. Hopefully in the process we can inspire others to do likewise and of course create more fans of Sky.

This recognition is great, but of course this is only really a key milestone in an on-going journey to decrease our environmental impacts from point of manufacture through to end of life. We have recently announced new environment targets that include the ambition to lead the way with better more sustainable products. You can read about our two new product targets and series of commitments in our environment targets 2020.
