Gadget Geeks: F1™ Special
Exclusive to Sky 1 HD and Sky 1 on March 12th at 8pm
It’s pedal to the metal as Sky 1 HD’s GADGET GEEKS turn their boffin brains to motor racing for a special Gadget Geeks F1™ themed episode. Gadget Geek inventor extraordinaire Colin Furze will be joined by special guest Georgie Thompson, part of the new Sky Sports F1™ presenting team, for the build challenge of a lifetime - transforming a family car into an all-conquering speed machine packed with F1™ technology. GADGET GEEKS: F1™ SPECIAL will be on Sky 1 HD and Sky 1 on March 12th at 8pm.
An avid Formula 1™ fan, Colin’s dream has always been to emulate his heroes, the men who design and build the fastest cars in the world. But he won’t be taking on this mission alone. Along with Georgie, Colin will be joined by Gadget Geeks car nut Rory Reid as they attempt to demonstrate that the average modern family car is upgradeable into a F1™ racer. They’ll do this by taking one average 1.6 litre Honda Civic, stripping it back to its bare chassis and retro-fitting it with F1™ technology begged, borrowed and stolen from the most high tech garages in the world.
On helping out the Gadget Geeks, Georgie said: “It was great to be involved in the Gadget Geeks F1TM Special. I’ve been touring around the teams recently and people would be amazed by the technology that powers Formula 1TM. What this show will do is help viewers get to grips with just how big a challenge it is to transform a road car into a supercar let alone get a F1TM car ready for the new season.”
The show will also help Sky viewers make sense of all the new technology that has transformed Formula 1™ in recent years, and culminate with a race on a testing track to show just far the Gadget Geeks F1™ car has come.
GADGET GEEKS: F1™ SPECIAL has been especially commissioned for Sky 1 HD as part of Sky's complimentary programming to celebrate the launch of Sky's brand new channel Sky Sports F1™ HD. This new home of Formula 1™ will be the only place to enjoy live coverage of the whole Grand Prix™ season, including all practice and qualifying sessions and every race in the calendar. The dedicated channel will be provided at no extra charge to all Sky TV customers who take both Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 or who take Sky’s HD pack of channels. Sky Atlantic HD will also broadcast a new series called The Petrol Age, and Sky Atlantic HD and Sky Movies HD will be showing the Bafta™ nominated Senna in March."
The GADGET GEEKS: F1™ SPECIAL is a Bullseye production for Sky 1 HD. The series is executive produced by Mike Griffiths for Bullseye and Clare Handford for Sky, and produced / directed by Ross Young.
