Get set for a Williams weekend as Robbie takes Ooer Sky 1 HD screens
Sky 1 HD today announces it has secured exclusive and unprecedented access to one of Britain’s biggest pop icons ahead of his long awaited musical comeback this Autumn. Robbie Williams will be rocking the London O2 this November and Sky 1 will be there to follow every step of the journey with a weekend of dedicated programming.
With his ‘Take The Crown’ show set to be his most stunning yet, Sky 1 HD will be live broadcasting his London O2 Arena concert on the 24th November into living rooms across the country.
Lifelong Robbie fan James Corden will kick off the proceedings with a 90 minute exclusive interview special, When Robbie Met James. Produced by Fulwell 73, the feature-length show will see the two friends discuss life, love, fatherhood and music.
Interspersed throughout the special will be backstage footage from a series of intimate gigs from three places that hold a special place in Robbie’s heart, as he entertains crowds at venues in Leeds, Glasgow and Southend; the exact 2000 seater venues he played on his very first solo tour. James Corden himself was at this tour back in 1997. Robbie will also perform a bespoke stripped down acoustic set as he prepares new material from his album ‘Take The Crown’, getting himself ready for his London O2 Arena residency.
The O2 Arena live broadcast was ordered by Louisa Forsyth, Acquisitions Manager for Sky Entertainment and When Robbie Met James was commissioned by Deborah Sargeant, Commissioning Editor for Sky Entertainment.
In addition to the exclusive programming, Sky are giving their customers an unmissable opportunity to get their hands on tickets for Robbie's sold out show. For the hottest tickets in town, stay tuned to Sky for further details.
Phil Edgar Jones, Head of Entertainment for Sky commented: “Robbie Williams is undoubtedly one of the UK’s biggest and best loved entertainers and we are absolutely thrilled to be bringing Sky Customers his spectacular new show. That plus James Corden spending some quality time with Robbie makes this a weekend treat not to be missed."
Robbie Williams said: “A proper grilling with my friend James, how could I resist?”
The Executive Producer for When Robbie Met James is Ben Winston. He said: "Robbie is an icon of music and a hero to so many generations. So to get such amazing access to him at an incredibly exciting time in his career is brilliant. Fulwell 73 are so pleased to be able to make such a memorable programme for Sky One"
By 2014, Sky expects to invest £600 million a year in British programmes across its portfolio of channels. This commitment follows the success of home-grown content such as entertainment hits GOT TO DANCE, AN IDIOT ABROAD and A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, dramas such as STRIKE BACK and MAD DOGS, comedies such as TROLLIED, SPY and STELLA, and factual shows such as ROSS KEMP EXTREME WORLD and the BAFTA-winning documentary FLYING MONSTERS 3D.
