Jane Seymour, Jessica Hynes, Jonathan Bailey and Shaun Parkes to star in Sky 1's original British drama, Hooten & The Lady

Thursday 10 March 2016

As filming continues on Sky 1 and Red Planet Pictures’ new action adventure drama Hooten & The Lady, it has today been announced that Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Seymour (Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman), BAFTA winner Jessica Hynes (W1A), Broadchurch star Jonathan Bailey and Da Vinci’s Demons actor Shaun Parkes will star in the series set to air later this year on Sky 1.

The stellar array of leading British talent joins previously announced cast members Michael Landes (CSI, Love Soup) and Ophelia Lovibond (Elementary, W1A) who will play title characters Hooten and Lady Alexandra Lindo-Parker respectively.

From the makers of hugely successful BBC series Death In Paradise and Dickensian, original British drama Hooten & The Lady follows the nail-biting escapades of maverick adventurer, Hooten, who teams up with fearless historical expert Lady Alexandra to travel the globe in search of hidden treasures from the past. From the mythical Amazonian golden City of Z to the Buddha’s missing scroll and the tomb of Alexander the Great, each hour-long episode follows the duo on an epic new adventure through jungles, deserts and underground cities.

Iconic actress Jane Seymour is set to play Lady Tabitha Lindo-Parker, the fun and daring mother of Lady Alexandra, in the eight-part escapist series for Sky 1, while Jessica Hynes and Shaun Parkes will play Lady Alexandra’s colleagues from the British Museum.

Commenting on her role, Jane Seymour said: “The role of Lady Tabitha is a great part to sink my teeth into – she’s not your average society woman, and has a keen sense of fun and effortless charm. She would certainly be first on the invite list to any dinner party!”

Transporting viewers to exotic locations around the world including the Cape Town and Moscow, Hooten & The Lady is the latest in a raft of original drama commissions for Sky 1 and follows the success of series including You, Me & The Apocalypse and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man. Sky offers customers quality drama all year round, including The Tunnel: Sabotage, Agatha Raisin and upcoming dramas Harlan Coben’s The Five and The Young Pope.

Commissioned for Sky 1 by Anne Mensah and Cameron Roach, Hooten & The Lady is produced by Red Planet Pictures and the lead director will be Colin Teague. It is executive produced by Tony Jordan and Simon Winstone for Red Planet Pictures and Cameron Roach for Sky, with Caroline Levy as series producer. It will be distributed by Sky Vision and is set to air on Sky 1 later this year.
