JLS to spend Christmas with Sky 1 HD

Tuesday 16 October 2012

JLS are joining Sky 1 HD this Christmas for a snow-filled sleigh ride adventure packed full of winter surprises. The foursome, undoubtedly one of the UK’s most successful bands, are celebrating five years together and have decided to create their own bespoke magical winter wonderland in which to party with their dedicated fans. The 90 minute special will take place in an enchanted forest setting in front of a very special crowd.

A VERY JLS CHRISTMAS will give Sky customers the chance to have some fabulous festive fun with the band as they perform some of their greatest hits, frolic with their fans, indulge in a series of huge stunts and talk exclusively about their incredible rise to fame. This is Christmas as you’ve never seen it before.

Having amassed an array of top ten hits such as Everybody In Love, Beat Again and The Club Is Alive, the band know they wouldn’t be anywhere without their loyal fan base so this is their chance to give something back. JB, Marvin, Aston and Oritse have handpicked 400 of their passionate devotees to camp out with them in festive log cabins before attending their exclusive Christmassy gathering.

They love to surprise their fans and this is no exception; from carol singing on doorsteps, surprising a flashmob and even bursting out a cinema screen, JLS will leave no stone unturned as they set off on a countrywide quest to reward those who have supported them so fervently over the last five years.

The boys will perform some of their biggest hits alongside some Christmas classics and their families will also feature heavily in the show as the band look to reward them for all their support over the years. The strong bond – and competitive nature - between the four boys is also put to the test when they embark on a series of winter sports; racing each other in a husky dog competition and even chopping down trees!

Phil Edgar-Jones, Head of Entertainment at Sky commented, “With some scream inducing surprises, top pop songs, presents galore and even a Christmas turkey dinner cooked by Marvin’s dad, A Very JLS Christmas will offer the best of Christmas in one jolly festive package. We are delighted to have secured unprecedented access to one of the country’s biggest boybands and are sure that Sky customers will have a very Merry Christmas in the company of JLS.”

The Executive Producer for A Very JLS Christmas is Ben Winston, Partner of Fulwell 73. He said: ""We are really looking forward to this Christmas on Sky with JLS. This is a music special like nothing we have seen before. Christmas in the most magical of settings will be a festive treat for everyone."

A Very JLS Christmas was commissioned by Phil Edgar Jones, Head of Entertainment at Sky and Deborah Sargeant, Commissioning Editor for Entertainment at Sky. The 90 minute special is produced by Fulwell 73 and will air in December on Sky 1 HD.

By 2014, Sky expects to invest £600 million a year in British programmes across its portfolio of channels. This commitment follows the success of home-grown content such as entertainment hits GOT TO DANCE, AN IDIOT ABROAD and A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, dramas such as STRIKE BACK and MAD DOGS, comedies such as TROLLIED, SPY and STELLA, and factual shows such as ROSS KEMP EXTREME WORLD and the BAFTA-winning documentary FLYING MONSTERS 3D.

Following the addition of Sky 1 HD to Sky Go, customers will also be able to watch all upcoming home-grown comedies on the move on iPad, selected smartphones and laptops at no extra cost.
