June's top 10 shows on Sky

Tuesday 30 July 2013

Looking at the viewing figures for our top-performing programmes across the Sky Entertainment channels in June, it’s again been really interesting to see the different ways our customers have been enjoying their favourite TV shows on Sky.

The tense final moments of Sky Atlantic’s third season of Game of Thrones saw the last episode of our hit fantasy thriller rise to the top of the most-watched list. Attracting a total of more than 1.66m viewers across live TV, Sky+ and on-demand, the finale was also a strong performer on Sky Go, with 174,000 users catching the action while on-the-move.

This time around, Revolution kept rolling in second place, building on its popular run in May. It’s also been great to see consistently strong on-demand and on-the-go viewing for the series.

As one of our home-grown commissions, it’s really rewarding to see the eagerly anticipated third series of Mad Dogs make a strong debut on Sky 1 with well over 1m viewers, including 60,000 on-demand views and 96,000 Sky Go streams.

Across all of our shows, this insight really helps us see a bigger picture, highlighting just how much our customers love the freedom of being able to watch what they want, when they want. That’s why we’re committed to getting even more Sky homes connecting their Sky boxes to broadband so they can enjoy our catch-up and on demand services.

Our recent full year results saw us report what can only be described as an explosion in take-up of these offerings, with the number of total on-demand downloads by our customers increasing five-fold over the past year, and Sky Go being used 600m times in the same period – rocketing by 40%.

It’s seeing our customers react in this way that makes me personally very proud; it shows just how powerful the combination of great TV and brilliant technology can be – and we’re always thrilled to be giving them more of the TV they love.

Right, that’s it from me this month – I’m just about to head off on holiday with the family. Looking forward to letting you all know the latest numbers for July viewing when I’m back in the swing of things in a couple of weeks’ time. I hope you’re all having a great summer.
