Mad Men’s sixth season to debut on Sky Atlantic HD on Wednesday 10 April

Tuesday 29 January 2013

Sky Atlantic HD today announces that the penultimate season of the multiple award-winning and critically acclaimed MAD MEN will launch on the channel with a double bill on Wednesday 10 April at 10pm, just three days after it returns in the US.

One of the best dramas of recent years, MAD MEN has cemented its reputation as a critics’ darling and awards season favourite, with Matthew Weiner’s depiction of life in the world of advertising in 1960s New York capturing imaginations across the globe. The fifth season brought change at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. While creative director Don Draper (Jon Hamm) enjoyed life with new wife Megan (Jessica Paré), financial woes burdened Lane (Jared Harris) and, unable to cope, the Englishman took his own life.

Scheming head of accounts Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser) cemented his importance at the agency, and single mum Joan (Christina Hendricks) also secured her future when she took decisive action to redefine her role and become a partner. As the season ended,  all of the partners  were left struggling with their own personal demons --  not least Don, whose marital bliss appeared to be crumbling, with viewers left questioning if the philanderer of old had returned.

To be able to continue exploring the stories of these characters for a sixth season is an amazing opportunity,” said Emmy® and Golden Globe® winning creator and executive producer Matthew Weiner. “We love mining this world and look forward to bringing the audience stories that we hope will continue to both surprise and entertain them.

MAD MEN stars Golden Globe® winner Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, John Slattery, Vincent Kartheiser, Christina Hendricks, Jessica Paré, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer, Robert Morse, Jay Ferguson, Chris Stanley, Ben Feldman and Kiernan Shipka.

The sixth season will consist of thirteen episodes. The season opener will be written by Matthew Weiner and directed by executive producer Scott Hornbacher. Leading man Jon Hamm will again direct the third episode in the series, while John Slattery will also take back the helm for two later episodes.

MAD MEN returns with a double bill on Wednesday 10 April at 10pm exclusively to Sky Atlantic HD.
Customers will also be able to watch MAD MEN with Sky Go and Sky Go Extra available on PC, Xbox, iPad and selected smartphones at no extra cost.
