Raising Hope returns for a second raucous series

Wednesday 27 June 2012

Guest stars include pop princess Katy Perry

and High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale

London, 27 June 2012: Today Sky 1 HD welcomes back hapless Jimmy Chance as the second series of RAISING HOPE (22 x 30) returns on 15 July at 6.30pm.

This season Jimmy (LUCAS NEFF) continues his expedition into the unpredictable world of parenting. Fatherhood sprang suddenly on Jimmy when his one night stand with Lucy (BIJOU PHILLIPS), a wanted serial killer, resulted in a bundle of joy, the boldly named Princess Beyonce – that soon changed to Hope. Helping/hindering him along the way were Jimmy’s clueless parents Virginia (Emmy® nominee MARTHA PLIMPTON) and Burt (TCA nominee GARRET DILLAHUNT), and crackers Grandma, Maw Maw (Emmy® winner CLORIS LEACHMAN). Offering a sane shoulder to lean on, however, was shop girl Sabrina (SHANNON WOODWARD), who Jimmy also had the warm fuzzies for.

Created by Greg Garcia (My Name is Earl), RAISING HOPE is aiming big with season two, even roping in a bona fide pop princess for a special guest appearance. Yep, KATY PERRY is heading to Texas to play a prison guard, although you might not recognise her. Other guest stars popping up include PATTON OSWALT (Young Adult), FRED WILLARD (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), ASHLEY TISDALE (High School Musical) and Earl alumnus JAIME PRESSLY. Kicking off with the revelation that Jimmy was quite the Justin Bieber of his day - well, until an incident with a golf putter left him talentless - the Chances take us further into their wonderfully weird world. We’ll also be seeing more of Lucy’s life on death row and have ample opportunities to cheer on Jimmy in his attempts to win Sabrina’s heart.

RAISING HOPE is produced by AMIGOS DE GARCIA, in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television. Greg Garcia is the creator, writer and executive producer.

RAISING HOPE will launch on Sunday 15 July, 6.30pm, Sky 1 HD and on the move with Sky Go as part of Sky 1 Super Sunday which also features new episodes of THE SIMPSONS and brand new family drama SINBAD.
