Russell Brand comes to Sky Atlantic HD with Brand X with Russell Brand this July

London, Wednesday 6th June, 2012:  As part of Sky’s commitment to bringing innovative programming to its customers, SKY ATLANTIC HD today announces BRAND X WITH RUSSELL BRAND will premiere exclusively to Sky customers on the channel and on the move via Sky Go on July 2nd.

The series will feature Brand’s unfiltered take on current events, politics and popular culture.  Unscripted, BRAND X WITH RUSSELL BRAND will be shot in front of a live audience who will feature heavily in the show.

Scheduled to air on Sky Atlantic HD within days of the US premiere, the acquisition of BRAND X WITH RUSSELL BRAND and VEEP (Armando Iannucci) together with UK comedy commissions HUNDERBY (Julia Davis); WALKING AND TALKING (Kathy Burke), ALAN PARTRIDGE: PLACES OF MY LIFE, ALAN PARTRIDGE: OPEN BOOKS WITH MARTIN BRYCE (Steve Coogan); ADAM BUXTON’S BUG; DON’T SIT IN THE FRONT ROW (Jack Dee) and US stars RONNA & BEVERLY continues to build Sky Atlantic’s comedy momentum in 2012.

Sky Atlantic HD is committed to bringing bold, innovative content to screen from both sides of the Atlantic, from award-winning ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ to UK-originations such as ‘Hit & Miss’, created by Paul Abbott and starring Chloe Sevigny and ‘Great Britain: Our Story’, the channel’s first foray into high-end factual; an epic reconstruction of the history of our nation, told through inspiring stories of human endeavour, the Great British spirit that has made us who we are today.

Brand began his career as a stand-up comedian and that remains his foremost method of entertaining audiences today. He rose to fame in the UK and launched his first nationwide tour, Shame, in 2006; the show was released on DVD as Russell Brand: Live. Brand then launched his second nationwide tour in 2007, Russell Brand: Only Joking; released on DVD as Russell Brand: Doin’ Life.

On the big screen, Brand is best known for his role as rocker ‘Aldous Snow’ in the Judd Apatow produced Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek, Russell Brand can soon be seen in the upcoming musical Rock of Ages. His other film credits include the Disney hit, Bedtime Stories, Warner Bros. Arthur (which marked Brand’s first role as a producer) and The Tempest.

 Also an acclaimed author, Brand has written two books, My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugsand Stand-Up, which was on The New York Times best-seller list for five weeks in a row, and the follow up, Booky Wook 2: This Time It’s Personal.
