Sky 1 HD strikes three year deal for a league of their own with CPL productions
Sky 1 HD have struck a further three year deal with CPL Productions, to deliver 30 new episodes of A League of Their Own.
Now in its eighth series, Sky 1’s high energy supersized panel show, A League of Their Own, is firmly established amongst the elite with its unique blend of sports, comedy and entertainment. The show that invented the ‘Mobot’, ‘tattooed’ One Direction’s Niall Horan, and introduced Olympic skeleton champion Amy Williams to the world of rally co-driving, will return for a further three series following the deal signed with CPL Productions.
Adam MacDonald, Director, Sky 1, said: “A League of Their Own’s energetic blend of sport and big hearty laughter has grown to become one of Sky 1’s strongest returning series. Its popularity with Sky customers is a thing to treasure and I’m delighted we have agreed a three year deal to continue that success story.”
Creative Director for CPL, Murray Boland, added: “It’s great to be returning with a further three series of A League Of Their Own – the last series was our most successful ever and it just keeps getting better and better.”
Series 8 will be broadcast in summer 2014, with James Corden back in the hosting seat alongside regular team captains Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff, and permanent panelist Jack Whitehall.
Series 9 is slated for 2015, Series 10 for 2016, and Series 11 for 2017; with a run of 8 x 60 minute episodes and 2 x 60 minute Unseen episodes each.
A League of Their Own is produced by CPL Productions for Sky 1 HD. Series Producer is David Taylor, and Executive Producers are Murray Boland, Danielle Lux and Jim Pullin for CPL Productions and Barbara Lee for Sky.
This year Sky will invest £600 million a year in original British content and production across its portfolio of channels. This commitment includes entertainment shows GOT TO DANCE and DUCK QUACKS DON’T ECHO; dramas such as THE SMOKE and MOONFLEET; comedies including STELLA, DOLL & EM and MOONE BOY and factual shows as diverse as 50 WAYS TO KILL YOUR MAMMY, THE SOUTH BANK SHOW and ROSS KEMP EXTREME WORLD.
