Sky 1 sets sail with The Last Ship

Sky 1 HD today ( Friday 22nd August) announces it has acquired the exclusive UK television rights to the post-apocalyptic drama series THE LAST SHIP.  The series will join the channel’s portfolio of US drama, including hit US series ARROW, MODERN FAMILY, GLEE, HAWAII FIVE-0, NCIS: LOS ANGELES and 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY.

From blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay (Transformers), and based on thebest-selling novel by William Brinkley, THE LAST SHIP isan action-packed military thriller starring Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy)and British actress Rhona Mitra (Strike Back). The series has alreadybeen renewed for a second 13-episode run.

The 10-episode series opens with a global pandemic that has nearly decimatedthe world's population. After four months of radio silence in remote Antarctica,the crew of the U.S.S. Nathan James is heading home with microbiologistRachel Scott (Rhona Mitra), the only person who might hold thekey to stopping the virus. But the crew and its captain (Eric Dane, Grey’s Anatomy)must wrestle with the reality of their miraculous existence in a worldwhere they are among the few remaining survivors. Their last mission isthe world's only hope - stay alive until a cure is found, for our future,our families and for all humanity.
