Sky 1 takes a trip down to the woods today to unveil brand new game show Wild Things (working title)

Friday 22 August 2014

(LONDON, 22nd August, 2014): Sky 1 announces today the commission of a hilarious new family entertainment show called WILD THINGS (working title). The 6 x 60 series, features couples undertaking a range of challenges on a gigantic woodland obstacle course and commences production immediately for transmission next year. WILD THINGS (working title) is an IWC/Mad Monk & GroupM Entertainment co-production.

The show is set in a forest which contains a woodland obstacle course and a series of challenges that couples (either partners or contestants related by family) must overcome in order to get the chance to walk away with a fortune in gold coins buried deep within the Wild Wood.

To begin one member of each team is nominated as the Wild Thing, which means they must wear a woodland protection suit designed to look like acute woodland animal. Unfortunately this means that not only do they look ridiculous but also that they cannot see a thing, so they will need their partner to guide them to safety and victory.

Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky 1 said, “WILD THINGS (working title) is like nothing we’ve seen before - a surreal and side splittingly funny concoction of giant woodland creatures, bickering couples and pots of gold. It's a big, daft slice of genius.

Gary Monaghan from Mad Monk said,It’s brilliant that Sky have had the courage and belief to back a show where it’s perfectly acceptable to watch a giant squirrel tripping a giant rabbit whilst a husband argues about directions with his wife… who is dressed like a giant owl”

Chris Brogden, Commissioning Editor, Sky Entertainment said, We loved the idea as soon as we heard about it. It’s exactly the type of entertainment commission that we embrace on Sky 1 – fun for the family, vibrant and completely unique..”

The 6 x 60 series will air on Sky 1 HD in 2015. The executive producer for Mad Monk/ IWC is Gary Monaghan, and for GroupM Entertainment, Abigail Adams. WILD THINGS (working title) was commissioned by Sky’s Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, Chris Brogden.

This year Sky will invest £600 million a year in original British content and production across its portfolio of channels.  This commitment includes entertainment shows GOT TO DANCE and A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN dramas such as STRIKE BACK and MOONFLEET; comedies including STELLA, DOLL & EM and MOONE BOY and factual shows as diverse as 50 WAYS TO KILL YOUR MAMMY, THE SOUTH BANK SHOW and ROSS KEMP EXTREME WORLD.
