Wednesday 31 January 2018

Sky is the top performing media organisation in Stonewall’s annual list* of Top 100 LGBT-inclusive employers.

More than 400 employers are considered each year with just the most inclusive companies featured within the Top 100 LGBT list.

This year was the first time a media company has featured within the top 100 in recent years. Sky, the highest climbing company in the index, moved up 133 places to reach 29th on the list cracking the top 30 for the first time ever.

Stephen van Rooyen, Chief Executive Officer UK & ROI, Sky said: “We are incredibly proud to be the only organisation from the media sector to be recognised by Stonewall as a Top 100 Employer for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This achievement demonstrates Sky’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, at all levels within our business. It is also testament to the engaging initiatives led by our LGBT+@Sky employee network. Increasing diversity, thereby accessing the most diverse set of experiences and ideas, helps to ensure that we reflect our customer base and make balanced business decisions.”

*Stonewall’s annual Workplace Equality Index is the definitive benchmarking tool for employers to measure their progress on lesbian, gay, bi and trans inclusion in the workplace. Participating employers demonstrate their work in 10 areas of employment policy and practice. Staff from across the organisation also complete an anonymous survey about their experiences of diversity and inclusion at work.
