Sky Atlantic HD debuts Stephen Merchant’s Hello Ladies & second series of Armando Iannucci’s Veep on 16 October from 10pm

Friday 20 September 2013

Continuing to bring Sky customers world-class comedy from the finest talent from both on and off-screen, Sky Atlantic HD will debut Stephen Merchant’s brand new HBO sitcom HELLO LADIES and the second series of Armando Iannucci’s VEEP on the channel on 16 October from 10pm. Sky customers with connected boxes will be able to see the premiere episodes of both series On Demand from 10 October.

Starring, co-written, directed and executive produced by multi award-winning British comedy writer and performer Stephen Merchant (The Office, Extras, Life’s Too Short), HELLO LADIES stars Merchant as a gawky Englishman searching for the woman of his dreams in Los Angeles. Half as charming – and twice as desperate – as he thinks he is, he’s obsessed with infiltrating the glamorous world of beautiful people, who won’t let him in.

HELLO LADIES is executive produced by Stephen Merchant, Lee Eisenberg (The U.S. Office) and Gene Supnitsky (The U.S. Office), who also write several episodes.

Following HELLO LADIES at 10.30pm is the second season premiere of Armando Iannucci’s Emmy®-nominated comedy VEEP. Taking a sharp, satirical look at the insular world of Washington politics, VEEP stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her Emmy®-winning role as Vice President Selina Meyer. The returning ensemble cast of the show includes Tony Hale (Arrested Development), Anna Chlumsky (In The Loop), Matt Walsh (Outsourced), Reid Scott (My Boys), Timothy Simons (Days Together) and Sufe Bradshaw (Overnight). Guest stars this series include Sally Phillips (Smack The Pony), Kent Davidson (Pineapple Express) and Kevin Dunn (Luck).

VEEP was created by Armando Iannucci, who also writes and directs several episodes this series. Fellow directors for this series include Chris Morris (Four Lions), Tim Kirkby (Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle), Becky Martin (Peep Show) and Chris Addison (The Thick Of It); while writers include Iannucci’s fellow The Thick Of It writers Simon Blackwell, Tony Roche, Sean Gray, Roger Drew, Ian Martin and Will Smith.

The series is executive produced by Iannucci, along with Frank Rich (of New York Magazine) and Christopher Godsick (Take The Lead), co-executive produced by Simon Blackwell and Tony Roche, and produced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Stephanie Laing.

HELLO LADIES and VEEP form part of Sky Atlantic HD’s strategy to bring smart, distinctive and authored comedy exclusively to Sky customers and will follow on the heels of the channel’s double British Comedy Award-winning, BAFTA® Award-nominated Hunderby, BAFTA® Award-nominated Alan Partridge: Welcome To The Places Of My Life and BAFTA® Award-winning Girls.

HELLO LADIES will premiere on 16 October at 10pm on Sky Atlantic HD. Customers with connected boxes will be able to see the show first On Demand from 10 October.

The second series of VEEP will premiere on 16 October at 10.30pm on Sky Atlantic HD. Customers with connected boxes will be able to see the show first On Demand from 10 October.
