Sky recognised as a leader in the CDP FTSE 350
Sky has been recognised as the 6th leading company for climate change action and management with both positions on the CDP FTSE 350 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index and the CDP FTSE 350 Climate Performance Leadership Index.
At Sky we know that operating efficiently and reducing our impact on the environment improves our business, as well as contributing to a more sustainable future for everyone. To achieve this we have a series of environmental targets that we report on every year and are resulting in fewer impacts and better, more sustainable products.
We’ve been disclosing our carbon emissions to the CDP for four consecutive years. This year, for the first time, we have been identified as one of the top Global 500 firms leading on climate change action; and now also have been singled out in the CDP FTSE 350 as leading on action against climate change with a position on the Climate Performance Leadership Index, and on the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index.
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international, not-for-profit organisation, which motivates companies to disclose their impacts on the environment and take action to reduce them. The CDP is made up of 722 investors representing US$87 trillion of assets and holds the largest collection globally of primary climate change, water and forest-risk information.
Our appearance in these Indices is a result of our successful management of carbon emissions and our approach to how we manage our data and understand climate change issues. This is the first time we have held all of these at any one time.
During the disclosure year our absolute gross emissions fell by 10% while Sky continuing to grow as a business. This represents a 31% reduction in gross CO2e emissions against our 2008/09 baseline. Click here to find out more about our environmental targets.
