Sky Sports' F1 story begins
This is an exciting time for Sky viewers with this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix heralding the start of our first season of live F1TM on Sky Sports. Following months of planning and preparation, we are now putting the final touches in place to take viewers into the heart of this fascinating sport.
Our customers deserve and enjoy great choice and value, and F1 is another example of Sky investing in fantastic content. Our newly launched channel, Sky Sports F1 HD, enables us to provide an unrivalled commitment to the sport.
Every Grand Prix weekend live, including all practice and qualifying sessions as well as uninterrupted live race coverage. And there’s a wealth of support programming including our weekly Friday night magazine show and Steve Rider’s legends series too.
All of this at no extra cost to customers with Sky Sports 1 & 2 or those that subscribe to the HD channels mix. And these Sky customers can also enjoy our F1 coverage across a range of mobile, PC and tablet devices with Sky Go.
We’ve assembled a great team on-screen and off to guide viewers through the action. In Martin Brundle, we have the voice of F1. With him in the commentary box is the hugely popular David Croft, while viewers will also be able to enjoy brilliant analysis from Damon Hill and Anthony Davidson. Ted Kravitz and Natalie Pinkham will be in the pits and paddock with the latest news and views, and our coverage will be anchored by Simon Lazenby and Georgie Thompson, both of whom have risen through the ranks at Sky to become hugely impressive presenters.
Our coverage is in HD and for the first time viewers in the UK and Ireland can enjoy the incredible sound of F1 through Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound. And by pressing the red button on the Sky digital remote control, viewers can enjoy the fantastic interactive options of Sky Race Control, including on board cameras, highlights, and data.
Sky Sports News HD is providing up to six days of coverage from each Grand Prix while we have also built a new F1 section on skysports.com too.
This week, several of my colleagues will add their own thoughts on Sky Sports F1 HD on Sky Views as we count down to the Australian Grand Prix.
I’m sure you’ll find them of interest. And I hope you enjoy the coverage on Sky Sports F1 HD.
