Sky Sports kicks off the European Rugby season at Harlequins

Friday 14 August 2015

Harlequins will host the first of at least 40 live games from The European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup on Sky Sports.

Sky Sports will be the first place to see the stars from the Rugby World Cup in European action starting on Thursday 12 November when Harlequins entertain Montpellier.  Montpellier like a number of French clubs, have recruited heavily and will provide a stern test for England captain, Chris Robshaw and his Harlequins team.

The first round offers exciting fixtures for Sky Sports customers including Saracens at home to four times European champions Toulouse, Ospreys against Exeter Chiefs, and Dan Carter’s new team Racing Metro take on Glasgow in Paris.  During the first four rounds, viewers can also enjoy both the home and away tie between Leinster and reigning champions Toulon, as well as current Guinness PRO12 champions Glasgow who host Northampton Saints.

Analysis will be provided by World Cup winners Jonny Wilkinson and Will Greenwood as well as Shane Horgan and Scott Quinnell.

Sky Sports viewers can enjoy another huge season of live rugby with action every month of the year starting with the QBE and Guinness Internationals, Guinness PRO12, French Top14 and all the best action from the Southern Hemisphere including The Rugby Championship, Super 15 and the home nations summer tours.

Sky Sports executive producer for rugby union, Gus Williamson said: “This is another huge season of rugby on Sky Sports with live action every month of the year from international and domestic competitions around the world.

“The first set of European fixtures has provided some fascinating match-ups and Sky Sports will show the current Aviva Premiership, Guinness PRO12 and French Top 14 champions over the first two rounds.  It’s going to be another great year of European Rugby and Sky Sports will be there every step of the way.”

Sky Sports’ live rugby coverage continues tomorrow, Saturday 15 August with four live games featuring eight of the top 10 international teams in the World.  The day starts with the newly crowned Rugby Championship champions Australia taking on New Zealand and also features England in their first QBE International against France at Twickenham.
