Sky Sports News takes to the air with '92Live'
Today, Sky Sports News will make broadcasting history. As part of our build-up to the football season, we’ll be showing live reports from all 92 Barclays Premier and Sky Bet Football League teams in a single day, something that has never been attempted before.
‘92Live’ will offer an exciting look at a day in the life of football, through the eyes of each club. It’s a bold and ambitious undertaking, but also one that underlines our dedication to bringing the complete story to our viewers. Fans of every club will have the opportunity to hear the latest live updates from their team as they prepare for the new season, which begins live on Sky Sports tomorrow with Sheffield United against Notts County in Sky Bet League 1.
For 92Live we’ll have a team of 19 reporters on the ground delivering live bulletins from the clubs across England and Wales, talking not only to players and managers but representatives at all levels of a professional football club including kitmen and groundsmen, right up to Chairmen and CEO’s.
It’s the perfect way to celebrate the start of the season. So much goes on behind the scenes at football clubs to get ready for the Saturday, particularly for a new season, and we want to show what happens at clubs from Manchester United all the way through to newly-promoted Mansfield Town.
More than 120 Sky Sports News staff will be involved on the day including presenters, producers, reporters plus our satellite teams – from engineers on the road to those in the control room at Sky Studios – making sure that no club misses out. This is one of our biggest events ever and one that has taken much planning. The work from everyone involved has been nothing short of brilliant – we’re really lucky to have so many talented and dedicated people in our team.
92Live is a fantastic way to honour the Football League’s 125th anniversary, and a great way to set up the biggest season ever on Sky Sports, which includes 116 Barclays Premier League, up to 90 Sky Bet Football League matches and more than 500 live domestic, European and international fixtures in total.
At Sky Sports News we’ll be capturing all the stories, aided by a new schedule for the season. We’ve got five new strands of programming that will cover all the goals, news, opinion and transfers of the week. On Fridays, Weekend Warm-Up is a preview of the weekend’s football, from the relaxed setting of the Sky Studios coffee bar. Then, on Saturday, we’ll have Today’s Goals Now with all the day’s Sky Bet Football League action, and Saturday Reloaded which will round up the Barclays Premier League. On Sundays throughout August, Jim White will deliver all the transfer news in our new Transfer Centre before The Monday View - on Mondays from August 19 - takes a look back at the weekend’s sport.
We’ll still have all the extensive coverage throughout the week that viewers have come to expect including the daily, hour-long Evening Report capturing all the day’s top sports stories.
It has been a fantastic summer of sport with the Lions, the Ashes, Wimbledon and more. I can’t wait to see what the next few months of sport will treat us to.
