Sky Studios Elstree seeks Hertsmere talent to join studio team

Sky Studios Elstree has today announced they are searching for young, local talent to join their training initiative, the ‘Future Talent Programme’.  

The programme, which officially opened to applicants today, offers opportunities targeted at young school leavers and graduates to work for a fully paid year at the state-of-the-art studio facility, giving them unprecedented experience supporting some of the biggest productions in the world.  

The ‘Future Talent Programme’ is the new name for Sky Studios Elstree’s ‘Content Academy’, which has already seen 24 young trainees work at the state-of-the-art facility, supporting productions from Sky and sister company NBCUniversal including the feature film adaptation of Wicked, Paddington in Peru, and Sky Original comedy Mr Bigstuff.  

Over the year-long placement, recruits will receive hands on experience working as part of the core team in a busy film and TV studio. They will also work on some of the biggest blockbusters to film at Sky Studios Elstree over the next 12 months, including Jurassic World 4 and other exciting projects yet to be announced.  

The studio, based in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, is specifically searching for young Hertsmere talent to apply.

This follows on from Sky Studios Elstree holding an inaugural Props Assistant Skills Bootcamp in March alongside training partners ‘Art Department’ and ‘All Spring Media’. The bootcamp delivered specialist training to 15 people who were interested in developing careers in TV and Film. Over the course of a week the trainees were given hands on experience on everything from props, set decoration and building and designing graphics.  

Sky Studios Elstree has already trained over 1,000 young people since opening, through dedicated training days, school talks and career sessions.

There’s a whole host of roles and opportunities that will open doors to young people across the UK, so we’re using Sky Studios Elstree as a catalyst to inspire young people to consider careers they may not have even realised existed.” 

Later this year, Sky Studios Elstree will also open its doors to school children with a dedicated training programme, Sky Up Academy Studios. As one of the most ambitious training schemes for a studio site, the academy will provide training to over 10,000 students between the age of 11-18 every year, inspiring students to see the range of roles and opportunities in the TV and Film world. Sky Up Academy Studios has already been set up across other Sky sites, welcoming almost 300,000 young people throughout the UK since 2012.
