Sky to become the exclusive home of on demand boxsets of Turner's kids favourites, The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time

Thursday 14 April 2016

Sky and Turner have agreed a long-term deal so millions of Sky households with children will be able to watch even more of their favourite shows from Turner’s portfolio of kids channels. This includes the BAFTA award winning Cartoon Network, family favourite Boomerang and pre-school channel Cartoonito. They will be able to watch all their favourite programmes whenever and wherever they want either through the recently launched Sky Kids app or the dedicated Sky Kids tile on the Sky TV homepage.

The agreement means Sky TV customers can enjoy, among other amazing shows, the soon-to-launch original arbiters of girl power - The Powerpuff Girls - as well as having exclusive on demand access to boxsets of The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time.

From May, as well as watching live, kids can watch even more episodes on demand from Turner’s incredible programme slate such as Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 and Regular Show, and Boomerang’s iconic classics such as Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes

The deal helps ensure Sky remains the best entertainment choice for children and their parents in the UK and Ireland.  Sky has the widest range of live children’s channels, and the new agreement with Turner will also grow the number of on demand episodes of the most watched kids’ shows children can watch to 4,500.

Lucy Murphy, Head of Kids Content, Sky comments: “Turner produces some of kids’ absolute favourite shows and we are really excited Sky will be the only place they can watch boxsets of The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time. We know how much our customers love Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito so it is great news that our relationship with Turner will be continuing for many years to come.

Having great shows for kids really matters to us.  We want the millions of Sky families to have the very best kid’s entertainment available whenever and wherever they want to watch, including on the amazing new Sky Kids app.”

Ian McDonough, SVP and Managing Director, Turner, Northern Europe said: “We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Sky. This is an important and much valued relationship, and a testament to our ongoing commitment to deliver the very best curated and connected Turner brand experiences for young audiences and their families.

“This is a thrilling time for our business as we see a stronger slate than ever coming from our power house studios in the US and London. Our kids channel and programme brands go from strength to strength with more great launches imminent, including the re-versioned and much loved cult hit The Powerpuff Girls and the latest iteration of perennial boy hero Ben 10.”

Key shows from Turner’s kids channels can be enjoyed on the new Sky Kids app. Launched last month at no extra cost to millions of Sky families, the Sky Kids app offers a fun and safe way for pre-schoolers to 12 year olds to enjoy the most popular kids TV including 16 of the 20 highest-rated shows.

Furthermore, episodes can be found through the Kids tile on the Sky TV homepage which opens up a one-stop-shop of all the kids shows and movies available on demand, all kids TV recordings, plus a quick view of what’s on now on linear channels such as Cartoon Network and Boomerang.  Since the tile was added in Summer 2015, on demand views have increased five times.
