Sky's top 10 entertainment shows in December

Friday 31 January 2014

Yesterday, we confirmed that Sky is now the most popular connected TV service in Britain, with 4.4m customers enjoying our On Demand services.

Not surprising then that this Christmas we saw record numbers watching our shows On Demand and on Sky Go.

For the first time ever, our top ten for December attracted an average of more than 100,000 on demand views per show – a big breakthrough. It’s great to know that our customers are getting to enjoy as much TV when and where they want – especially at Christmas time.

The most successful show for Sky over the festive period was our big family event drama Moonfleet, starring Ray Winstone. Bringing in 1.6 million viewers and attracting more than 100,000 on demand views, it was the most watched show on pay TV over Christmas.

But of course, we’ve been working hard for a long time now to being you TV worth paying for. Mad Dogs hit the screens back in February 2011 and bowed out this Christmas, with its final episode hitting a total of more than a million viewers.

And it wouldn’t be a top ten round up without our favourite Karl. The Moaning of Life still sits high in the top ten for a third month. In comedy, Trollied, which has enjoyed three series on Sky 1 HD, enjoyed its festive moment with over a million viewers.

So with a record breaking 2013 behind us, we move onto our biggest ever year of entertainment. There is so much more to come – only yesterday we spoke of our plans for two cinematic co-productions with HBO as well as remaining the home of new shows from HBO until 2020.

Earlier  in the week we bought you the news that everyone can now enjoy some of biggest shows – such as Moonfleet, Moone Boy and The Smoke – online via a new YouTube channel. So as well as continuing to send us your thoughts, do please tell your friends to check out our YouTube channel, so they too can experience some of our biggest and best shows.
