Ten incredible dance acts to compete in The Live Final of Sky 1 HD’s Got To Dance on Sunday 4 March
Tayluer & Elliott, Prodijig, Fear of The Unknown, Boadicea, Sweet Surprise, Antics, Methods of Movement, A-Team, Unity UK and Kazzum in with a chance of winning £250,000
GOT TO DANCE: THE LIVE FINAL to broadcast exclusively on Sky 1 HD and Sky 3D on Sunday 4 March at 6pm
In last night’s fifth live semi-final of Sky 1 HD’s GOT TO DANCE, the final two dance acts won their chance to compete in the live grand finale, joining eight other competitors who are one step closer to winning the £250,000 cash prize.
Hosted by Davina McCall, GOT TO DANCE has scoured the nation for Britain’s best crews, troupes and solo dancers of all s and ages. Now in its third year, the number of applicants, and the level and s of talent on offer has been greater than ever before. On the judging panel are three dance experts – leader of award-winning dance crew Diversity, Ashley Banjo, trained dancer and singer Kimberly Wyatt and Adam Garcia, tap dancer extraordinaire.
The first semi-final saw 8 and 10 year old ballet dancers from Liverpool Tayluer & Elliott and Irish dancers Prodijig sail through to the final. Kimberly Wyatt was moved to tears by Tayleur & Elliot, saying “these are the moments that I live for on GOT TO DANCE”. Of Prodijig, Ashley Banjo said: “I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted an act in the final as much as I want you!”
Acrobatic troupe Fear Of The Unknown from Glasgow and all-girl hip hop crew Boadecia from London were voted through in the second semi-final. Of Fear Of The Unknown, Adam Garcia said: “You are amazing dancers and that was a brilliant performance”, and Ashley Banjo told Boadecia: “I am in love with these girls. You hit it so hard and I am so passionate about you!”
In the third semi-final, self-taught street crew Antics and 7 year old contemporary dancer from Glasgow, Sweet Surprise, made it through to the live final. Antics, from Birmingham, got a standing ovation from the judges, with Ashley Banjo commenting: “I stood up because you guys are a class act. Even with all the humour and all the jokes, you still bring that hard dance.” Adam Garcia told Sweet Surprise: “In the auditions I said you were my favourite and you are still my favourite.”
Street crews A Team and Methods of Movement were voted through in the penultimate semi-final. A Team, who are from all across the UK and formed especially for GOT TO DANCE, were told by Kimberly Wyatt: “That’s as close to perfection as you can possibly get. A Team all the way!”. Methods of Movement, from South End, were told by Ashley Banjo: “We’ve not got anyone like you in this competition!”
In the last semi-final, East London based street crew Unity UK and cheeky crew Kazzum from Bedford were the final acts to make it through to the GOT TO DANCE final. Kimberly Wyatt told Unity UK: “I have so much respect and adoration for what you do!” and Adam Garcia told Kazzum: “In terms of cleanliness and execution, you are amazing. I think it’s a great routine, really well done!”
GOT TO DANCE: THE LIVE FINAL will air on Sky 1 HD and Sky 3D on Sunday 4 March at 6pm. Finalists Tayluer & Elliott, Prodijig, Fear of The Unknown, Boadicea, Sweet Surprise, Antics, Methods of Movement, A-Team, Unity UK and Kazzum will compete in front of an audience of 6,000 people at London’s Olympia for the £250,000 prize.
Following the addition of Sky 1 HD to Sky Go, customers will also be able to watch GOT TO DANCE: THE LIVE FINAL on the move on iPad, selected smartphones and laptops at no extra cost.
