Anthony Joshua returns to Sky Sports Box Office on 28 October

Tuesday 5 September 2017

Sky Sports Box Office will show Anthony Joshua MBE defend his world heavyweight titles against Kubrat Pulev on 28 October.

The bout follows on from two unprecedented pay-per-view events on Sky Sports Box Office this year; Joshua v Wladimir Klitschko in April and last month’s clash between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor which generated a record number of buys across Sky’s outlets.

This is Joshua’s first fight since his spectacular victory over Klitschko at Wembley Stadium where he survived a knockdown and 11 brutal rounds against Dr Steelhammer in April to claim a career-defining win.

The Sky Ambassador will defend his title against hard-hitting Bulgarian boxer Pulev when the pair meet at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Nicknamed The Cobra, Pulev has tasted defeat just once in his professional career - against Klitschko - back in 2014. In total he has won 25 of 26 fights including a recent victory over Britain’s Dereck Chisora.

AJ meanwhile will be gunning for his 20th professional win. All 19 of his previous victories have come by way of knockout. It will also be the first time that Wales’ 74,500-seater national stadium has hosted a night of boxing since 2007, when local hero Joe Calzaghe defeated Mikkel Kessler.

Sky Sports Head of Boxing Adam Smith said:Anthony Joshua is now one of sport’s true superstars and the stage is set for a cracking night of boxing. Is this now the AJ era? Many believe so after that dramatic victory over Klitschko but Pulev is big, strong and shouldn’t be underestimated.”

The fight will also be made available to purchase for non-Sky TV customers, via a new Sky Sports Box Office streaming service. Sky Sports has agreed a new, long-term partnership with leading technology provider NeuLion to provide the service via the NOW TV box, as well as PC, mobile and tablet devices.

Ahead of the bout, Sky Sports viewers will be able to enjoy a range of support programming across both TV channels and digital platforms, in addition to all the pre-fight build up from behind the scenes.
