Friday 25 August 2017

Brand new US medical drama from ABC and Sony Pictures Television, The Good Doctor, is set to come to Sky Living this autumn. The compelling drama stars Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel) as Dr Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome.

The Good Doctor follows Shaun Murphy as he relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to save lives and challenge the scepticism of his colleagues.

From David Shore (creator of House) and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0), The Good Doctor also stars Antonia Thomas (Misfits), Nicholas Gonzalez (The Flash), Chukuma "Chuku" Modu (Me Before You), Beau Garrett (TRON: Legacy), Hill Harper (CSI:NY), Richard Schiff (The West Wing) and Tamlyn Tomita (The Day After Tomorrow). Produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios.

Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky Living, said: “The Good Doctor is going to be a brilliant addition to Sky Living's line up of the best-loved US drama. I personally can’t wait for the twists and turns as Dr Shaun Murphy makes his incredible mark on the medical world.”

Angel Orengo, EVP of Distribution EMEA at Sony Pictures Television said: "We are thrilled to expand and strengthen our relationship with Sky and to see The Good Doctor make its way to viewers in the UK."

The Good Doctor adds to the line-up of much-loved US dramas on Sky Living, which already includes Scandal, Blindspot, Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, Greys Anatomy and Nashville.

The deal was brokered for Sky by Sophie Judge, Acquisitions Manager for Sky Entertainment.

Sky Living in the UK and Sky 1 in Germany will air the ABC and Sony Pictures Television series . Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is handling the international distribution.
