A Sky Studios production in association with Paco Cinematografica

The first TV series written and directed by the D’Innocenzo brothers

Production is underway for new Sky Original drama, Dostoevsky, produced in-house by Sky Studios, in association with Paco Cinematografica.

The six-part series, marks the first TV project from acclaimed Italian directors, screenwriters and brothers, Fabio and Damiano D’Innocenzo, who burst on to the international cinema scene in 2018 with their debut Boys Cry followed by the success of Bad Tales, winner of Silver Bear for Best Script at the 2020 Berlinale, and the critically-acclaimed feature film America Latina.

The D’Innocenzo brothers said: “Dostoevsky is the story of a man, a police officer, a ghost, a winter, a daughter, a friend, the end of a friend, a river, an assassin, a glistening fish, a broken hand, an abandoned daughter, a colonoscopy, a battery charger, a more esteemed colleague, an orphan, an orphanage, a pregnancy, a lost daughter, a younger colleague, an eye washed in a sink, an illness. Dostoevsky is the decisive battle among all of these elements in the world.”

Dostoevsky follows the life and investigative work of policeman, Enzo Vitello, played by Filippo Timi (Vincere, I delitti del BarLume, Favola, Le otto montagne). With a troubled past and an inevitable future, Enzo finds himself investigating the bloody trail of a ruthless serial killer, nicknamed Dostoevsky, because of the letters they leave at crime scenes, filled with gruesome details. Haunted by the killer's words, Enzo is pushed to embark on a dangerous solo investigation, getting closer and closer to the disturbing truth.

Nils Hartmann, EVP Sky Studios Italia and Deutschland said: “Fabio and Damiano are very talented writers and creatives with a unique voice, who will bring Sky customers and viewers around the world, a series as bold and surprising as their vision and we couldn’t be more excited to start production. They have assembled a stellar cast, led by Filippo in the lead role, and we’re proud that, as the second series to be produced in house by Sky Studios in Italy, we’re continuing to build a creative home for some of the industry’s most exciting talent to realise their vision, at scale.”

The series will also star Carlotta Gamba (Dante), Federico Vanni (Chiara Lubich – L’Amore vince su tutto, Io sono l’abisso) and Gabriel Montesi (Favolacce, Siccità, Romulus, Christian).

Written and directed by Fabio and Damiano D’Innocenzo, production is currently underway in and around Rome, Italy until the end of 2022. It will air on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW across all Sky markets, including the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

NBCUniversal Global Distribution handle international sales on behalf of Sky Studios.
