Deadline Day is a ground-breaking insight into the most talked about but least understood aspect of modern football: the transfer market. With unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to world class players and Europe’s premier agents, the series unmasks the men whose job it is to make footballers’ dreams a reality and, for the first time, reveals how headline-grabbing multimillion pound deals get done. Shot across summer 2022 with contributions from journalists, sporting directors and club owners including Crystal Palace’s Steve Parish, Leeds United’s Andrea Radrizzani and West Ham’s David Sullivan, Deadline Day takes viewers inside some of the market’s most talked about moves. Cameras follow Fabian Ruiz and his agent Rodolfo Orife as his move to join his hero Lionel Messi at PSG hangs in the balance. German agent Sascha Empacher brokers a deal for Sasa Kalajdžić’s move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, while relentless press speculation linking the Austrian forward to Manchester United creates an unwelcome distraction.

As the clock ticks down, Japhet Tanganga makes a fateful decision, Martin Dubravka moves to Manchester United, Florian Grillitsch signs for Dutch giants Ajax, and Manchester City’s Omar Berrada opens up on how the club snared superstar Erling Haaland’s from Borussia Dortmund.

Deadline Day unravels the knot of real human motivations behind each headline-grabbing deal, revealing the operatic narratives of triumph, power, and ambition behind football’s biggest transfers.

The series was commissioned for Sky Documentaries by Jamie Morris, director of programmes, UK & Ireland and Jack Oliver, head of co-productions for Zai Bennett, managing director of content. Emmy Award winner Justin Webster (FC Barcelona Confidential, Six Dreams) directs, and it is produced by award-winning Adam Darke (Forbidden Games, All Or Nothing: Juventus) with executive producers Jon Owen, Jonathan Rogers for Pitch Productions and Helen Parker for Universal Pictures Content Group.

Deadline Day: Football’s Transfer Window will air on Sky Documentaries and NOW on January 15th
