On 7 July 2005, terrorist attacks struck London. Twenty years on, this Sky Original series reveals not just what happened on 7/7, but how and why.

7/7: Homegrown Terror tells the definitive story of London’s most infamous terrorist attack, in which fifty-two people were killed and 700 were injured. Told with unprecedented access to a range of perspectives, the series weaves together first-person testimony, unseen archive footage, and extraordinary investigative detail. Hear from key witnesses, survivors and their families, investigators, and voices connected to the perpetrators – including the father of one of the attackers, the close friend of another, and a fellow Brit who attended a training camp with the perpetrators.

Across three episodes, in advance of the 20th anniversary, the series unpacks the events of the 7 of July 2005 and the failed second attack two weeks later, exploring the manhunt that followed and the police shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes. Uncovering new insights into the bombers’ lives and radicalisation, including their personal histories and motivations, trips to training camps in Pakistan and their family life, 7/7: Homegrown Terror pieces together a nuanced account of the personal, political and social forces behind a defining moment in the nation’s history — and the scars it left behind.

The series will receive its world premiere at Sheffield DocFest later this month.

Press screeners are available here on Sky Media Village.

All episodes of 7/7: Homegrown Terror are available from 29 June on Sky Documentaries and NOW.
