Sky is introducing free global roaming in 120 destinations for its most loyal customers, through Sky VIP.
From today, millions of Sky VIP Diamond customers (those who’ve been with Sky for over 15 years) can use their Sky Mobile data, calls and text allowances abroad all over the world, just as they would in the UK, at no extra cost. This new VIP benefit applies to any Sky VIP Diamond customer either currently with, or newly joining Sky Mobile, and works with all data plans.
This means Sky VIP Diamond customers with Sky Mobile could pay nothing to data roam in destinations like the USA, Thailand, and India. Based on a 5-day trip, that’s £30 cheaper than EE customers using EE’s Zone 1 Pass* or up to £40 cheaper than Vodafone customers using Vodafone's monthly plan Global Roam or Zone D Passes.*
Today’s announcement builds on the expansion of Sky’s roaming destinations from 55 to 120 earlier this year, to offer comprehensive world-wide coverage.
Only Sky offers free global roaming on any data plan – exclusively for Diamond VIP customers**
With free global roaming, eligible customers can use their UK data, calls, and texts as if they were in the UK at no extra cost when they arrive in one of the 120 destinations across EU/EEA, the USA, Australia and more.
With nothing to install, download or set-up, free global roaming is simple and easy to use. It activates as soon as eligible customers use 10MB data or make a call or text to a UK number while in one of the destinations – from the mountains in Peru, to a beach in the Bahamas.
Sky VIP Diamond tier customers who already have Sky Mobile can start using free global roaming from today. Diamond customers who don’t have Sky Mobile can join by texting PAC to 65075 to get a switching code to move their number over to Sky and as a reward for their loyalty, they can get an unlimited data plan with a new SIM for just £10 per month on a 12-month contract, instead of the current new Sky customer price of £20 per month.
Ben Case, Managing Director of Connectivity at Sky said: “We’re giving our longest-standing Sky customers free global roaming in 120 destinations with Sky Mobile - it's another way we’re recognising loyalty with rewards that matter. Whether in Chile or China, South Korea or South Africa, Sky VIP Diamond customers will now stay connected at no extra cost.”
How Sky rewards loyal customers
All Sky customers are automatically enrolled in Sky VIP when they join. From day one, they enjoy a host of exclusive VIP rewards and experiences, which get even better over time, including tasty treats from Sainsbury’s, free movies every week, big discounts on loved brands and tickets to epic experiences.
Making roaming simpler for everyone
Sky Mobile customers who’ve not reached Diamond tier yet can still benefit from Sky’s Roaming Passport Plus. This straightforward and cost-effective way to roam allows them to use their UK data, calls and text allowances as if they were still in the UK while in one of the 120 global destinations for just £2 a day.
