Sky and streaming service NOW have confirmed that the brand-new Sky Exclusive film HILL will air on 2 July 2025.

The unique family story, set against the backdrop of the fastest sport in the world, follows 1996 Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill as he defies the odds and overcomes tragedy to step out of his father’s shadow and become a racing legend in his own right. More than a sporting biography, HILL is a story about identity, resilience, and devotion.

HILL is an emotive portrait of man who defied the odds to reach the top while carrying the weight of a famous name. The film charts his remarkable journey from racing motorbikes to carving out his own legacy in the fiercely competitive world of F1, racing alongside racing legends including Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

Damon Hill said, “This film is a highly personal telling of my life and Formula One career. It reveals my real motivation to succeed and how the death of my father, Graham Hill, affected me. Is also a tale of trying to win a world championship, racing against the toughest competitors in an ultra-uncompromising world, the tension that placed on my family and how I tried to keep a balanced perspective against a backdrop of chaos and stress.

“I know I’m biased but I think you will love this film whether you are a total Formula One nut, or just someone looking for a great uplifting film to watch. I’m really proud of how this film turned out. I think it’s a real gem.”

Through frank interviews and never-before-seen footage, the documentary explores the emotional and physical highs and lows of life at the pinnacle of motorsport. It also delves into the pressures of living up to a legendary name, while showing Damon as not just a racing driver, but also a husband, a father, and a man fighting to fulfil his destiny.

HILL also features homemade video capturing his family life, including raw and sentimental accounts of his father Graham’s death, the sacrifices he made to make it into motor racing, and the unwavering support of his wife Georgie.

Damon’s incredible career highs and lows encapsulate some of the biggest moments in F1 history, including his Williams’ teammate Senna's tragic death, his controversial crash with Schumacher which cost Damon the 1994 World Drivers’ title, and his incredible Championship-winning victory at the Japanese Grand Prix in 1996.

Fans of Formula 1 will love the deep dive into the sport’s history, rivalries, and defining races — but HILL also offers something for viewers less familiar with motor racing, uncovering the human story behind the spectacle.

HILL is directed by BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Alex Holmes (Maiden, The Rig) and produced by Simon Lazenby & Victoria Barrell of Sylver Entertainment (McEnroe, Schmeichel) and Cora Palfrey & Luc Roeg of Independent Entertainment (Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now, My Policeman).
