The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Sky News

Sky News has announced its coverage plans for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, when the country will come together to celebrate 70 years of service by Her Majesty The Queen.

From Thursday 2nd June, across TV, digital, audio and social media, Sky News will get audiences closer to the showstopping public events and iconic royal moments of this historic occasion. 

Absolutely Fabulous  actress and campaigner Dame Joanna Lumley will be a special guest for the famous balcony flypast at Trooping the Colour on Thursday 2nd June, before joining Kay Burley and Sky Royal Commentator Alastair Bruce from 11am on Sunday 5th June for a full day of festivities. 

With decades of knowledge and close connections to the Royal Family, the group will provide entertaining insights and reflective commentary on The Queen’s reign, with Sky News correspondents reporting live from street parties up and down the country for TheJubilee Big Lunch.

Then from 2pm on Sunday, Lumley and the team will take you through the weekend’s biggest event, The Platinum Jubilee Pageant, where hundreds of artists, musicians and schoolchildren will come together to perform different chapters of the story of the country’s longest-serving monarch.

Sky News Royal Correspondent Rhiannon Mills will be on hand throughout the four days of celebration with the latest news and analysis and a series of big-name guests. While Royal insiders and people whose lives have been touched by The Queen will join Sky News each day to share their memories of her incredible tenure of public service. 

On the Sky News website and App there will be an interactive feature to find out what The Queen was doing the year you were born, and one to find your nearest street party with the Sky News postcode checker.

There will also be plenty of in-depth explainers on the history of The Queen and Jubilee, as well as features looking at Her Majesty’s ever-lasting fashion style, and famous photographs of the monarch over the years.

Jubilee Breakfast with Kay Burley

Kay Burley is live outside Buckingham Palace as events to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee get under way. Kay will be previewing a packed day of special events and talking to many of those involved.

10am – 1pm

The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping The Colour)

Sarah-Jane Mee presents live coverage of Trooping The Colour from outside Buckingham Palace, as events to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee get underway.

9pm – 10pm

The Jubilee Beacon Show

Gillian Joseph is live at Buckingham Palace as more than 2,000 beacons are lit around the United Kingdom and Commonwealth to mark 70 years of Her Majesty The Queen’s reign.

FRIDAY 3RD JUNE 2022

7am – 1pm

Jubilee Breakfast and Service of Thanksgiving with Kay Burley

Kay Burley is at St Paul’s Cathedral on the day a special service of thanksgiving is held to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Kay will be joined by those taking part in the service as well as Sky News correspondents around the UK.

SATURDAY 4TH JUNE 2022

6am – 10am

Jubilee Breakfast

Kamali Melbourne is outside Buckingham Palace as people around the country mark the third day of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. We’ll be looking ahead to the events of the day with some of the many people taking part.

SUNDAY 5TH JUNE 2022

6am – 10am

Jubilee Breakfast with Sophy Ridge

Sophy Ridge is live at Buckingham Palace on the final day of celebrations to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Sophy will be looking ahead to today’s Jubilee pageant, and the many big lunch events taking place around the UK.

11am – 2pm

The Jubilee Big Lunch

Kay Burley presents live coverage from around the UK of the many big lunch events taking place to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with special guest Dame Joanna Lumley and Sky Royal Events commentator Alastair Bruce.

2pm – 6pm

The Jubilee Pageant

Kay Burley presents live coverage of the Platinum Jubilee Pageant in central London, with special guest Dame Joanna Lumley and Sky Royal Events commentator Alastair Bruce.
