UP NEXT 2024: Take a sneak-peek at images from ‘Small Town, Big Story’
The new Sky Original series starring Christina Hendricks and Paddy Considine, from the mind of Chris O’Dowd
Christina Hendricks (Good Girls, Mad Men) and Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon, The World’s End) appear in new images from Sky Original series, Small Town, Big Story. The three teaser shots depict characters; Wendy Patterson (Hendricks) and Séamus Proctor (Considine) as well as residents of Drumbán - a small town with a big story to tell. The images have been released to celebrate the completion of filming for the series, which was shot on location in Ireland including County Wicklow and Boyle. This warm, witty, and very dramatic comedy, created and directed by Chris O’Dowd (Moone Boy), is coming to Sky and NOW in Autumn 2024.
The six-part series is about a rural town of rattled misfits on the border of Ireland and another world, and what happens when a Hollywood production rolls into town, throwing a spotlight on a secret that’s been kept hidden since the eve of the Millennium.
Creator and director Chris O’Dowd said: “I bloody love television, and am most engrossed by stories that bring the remarkable to the everyday. I hope we’ve made a beautiful show that an audience will find funny and will keep people on the edge of their seats…and beyond.”
The three images released introduce several residents of the fictional Irish village:
- Séamus Proctor (Considine), the local doctor, is a respected pillar of the community. He has a neat and well-ordered life, or at least he thinks he does. Soon he will find himself in the eye of a storm as a celluloid circus descends, threatening to blow open a secret he has been harboring since the Millennium.
- Wendy Patterson (Hendricks), a local girl who found success as a TV producer in Los Angeles returns to Drumbán after over 20 years, having left under something of a cloud. Back in the chaotic microcosm of Drumbán, this time with a film crew in tow, Wendy is caught between her past and her epic new production.
- The locals in The White Ridge bar, a quintessential Irish pub at the heart of the village. A gathering place for a band of Drumbánian oddballs, including Keith McCurdle (David Wilmot), Barbara the butcher (Michelle Forbes), Matt Magee (Peter McGann), and barkeep Shelly McGoldrick (Evanne Kilgallon).
Small Town, Big Story is a Sky Original series produced by Playground / FilmNation Entertainment and HotCod Productions in association with Sky Studios.
