Andrea Zappia

Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer, New Markets & Businesses


As Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, New Markets and Businesses at Sky, Andrea is responsible for identifying and driving new revenue opportunities beyond Sky’s existing markets.

His remit includes oversight of the rapidly growing Sky Studios, which develops, produces and funds original content and aims to be the number one supplier of original content to Sky’s millions of customers. He is also responsible for the development of Sky Studios Elstree, a new state-of-the-art film and TV studio due to open in 2022 which will provide production space for original content from Sky and sister company NBCUniversal.

In his role, Andrea also drives Sky’s geographic expansion and new business development opportunities alongside oversight of all news services across the group, including UK based Sky News in the UK and Italian TG24.

Prior to his current role Andrea has held a number of leadership roles at Sky. He joined the company in 2003, just as Sky launched its pay-TV service in the region, as Vice President, Marketing, Promotion and Business Development, reporting to the CEO. He then took responsibility for Sky Italia’s sports channels before progressing to Managing Director, Customer Group at BskyB where he oversaw the UK pay-TV sales, marketing and customer operations teams. In 2011 he became CEO of Sky Italia until his role was expanded in 2018 to Chief Executive Officer, Continental Europe with responsibility for Sky’s Italian, German, Austrian, and Swiss markets which he held until taking on his current role in 2020.

Andrea started his career in the multinational company Procter&Gamble, before serving as Global Sales and Marketing Director for Ferrari and Maserati, then Vice President Marketing and Product Development worldwide at Fila before joining Sky. Since April 2015 Zappia has served on the Luxottica Board of Directors and was appointed Chairman of the Human Resources Committee.
